Hey guys,
So, when I was in college, I did my best to tune out interruptive footnotes and endnotes while reading my textbooks. But now that I'm editing a book for someone who's making use of them ... Houston, we have a problem.
I want to edit the footnotes eventually, but ideally that'll be during the second pass of the manuscript. Because this material is new to me, my hope is that I can somehow hide the footnotes while reading/editing the body text for the first time, then re-include the footnotes and address them individually.
I can't seem to find much support on this, neither in the AT sphere or in Office. There's an option in Word for changing the font style of all footnotes to "Hidden," but somehow I don't think NVDA or JAWS will respond to that; they'll just blunder along and read them anyway since it's a visual solution. Has someone tried this and been successful?
Please let me know of any tips or tricks with Word or NVDA/JAWS as to how I might make footnotes more manageable. I will be so very grateful to you!
Thanks,
Mel
